Sheet Metal Apprentice - Rutland

Rutland, VT

We are looking for a Sheet Metal Apprentice in the Rutland area that will fabricate, build, and install various types of metal structures and equipment for facility maintenance and installation programs. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Helps install sheet metal equipment and ductwork per the drawings and specs outlined to safely construct specified structure.
  • Properly install sheet metal accessories.
  • Work safely, follow OSHA standards along with New England Air Systems protocol.
  • Measures, cuts, and welds pieces together according to specifications, blueprints, or directions.
  • Uses appropriate machinery to complete assigned jobs.
  • Develops and maintains records for projects and repairs.
  • Cuts, bends, and shapes sheet metal to required dimensions.
  • Maintains clean and orderly workspace.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to read a tape measure accurately to 1/16”.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and calculate fractions.
  • Ability to complete sheet metal projects with accuracy and precision.
  • Ability to safely use machinery and tools involved in sheet metal work.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics to understand product assignment.
  • Team player who can also work independently.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Will work with a high school senior who is looking for a co-op experience with their tech school.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods lifting, reaching, and working on scaffolding and overhead structures.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Our apprenticeship program takes 4 years to complete with a combination of 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and classes that will teach you about the basics of the sheet metal trade.
